In August 2009, a carnival will be held in Assens for the 19th time, featuring an extravaganza of music, dancing, colours and high spirits.

Funen’s largest samba procession will dance its way through Assens for the 19th time in 2009.
On this day, Assens will be filled with exotic rhythms and lovely samba women dressed in colourful outfits.
This enjoyable event usually attracts many people to the town. The 2007 event had 700 participants and the samba procession attracted almost six thousands spectators.
The samba procession is linked to another major event – retro festival "Hit med Assens" in Assens.
